I've just started collecting used postage stamps for Many Tears Animal Rescue based in South Wales, here they take in and re-home primarily ex-breeding dogs who are no longer required; those on "death row" in the pounds and those whose owners are no longer able to keep them. MTAR also have many foster homes set up all over the country. Collecting used stamps is a simple and easy way to help raise much needed funds for the rescue. If anyone wants to help can you email me for my address and I will send them on for you or you can acquire the co-ordinators address from the website www.manytears.co.uk. If you have the time take a look around the website as there are a number of different ingenious ways you can help especially if you like knitting;-).
Here is a photo of how the stamps should be collected with a half inch border around the stamp. Please don't peel or steam the stamps off the envelope as they are worth less this way especially if they are damaged. UK stamps are good but foreign stamps are worth more.......
That's a great way to help a worthy cause.
ReplyDeleteHad a look at their website; they do amazing work.
Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. What a great way to help a deserving cause. I've just been having a look back through your previous posts and see that you have recently lost your faithful companion, Harry, I'm so sorry. I had a black labrador when I was a child, they're such wonderful dogs.
ReplyDeleteCheers for taking the time to look Keith
ReplyDeleteWelcome Jo. Yes Harry was very special to all the family. He had the most sweet and cheeky nature, truly delightful.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful idea! Let me see if I can find some used stamps for you...not sure since we do so much via the internet, these days, but I probably have some stamps from Christmas cards, etc.
ReplyDeleteOh, Deb, it's been too long since I've visited and I'm so sorry to hear about Harry! Will read backwards to see your post about it...
Thankyou Cheryl for your kind words and the stamps would be great if you have any. Maybe I can send you some black pearl chilli seeds in return, (if it is allowed as I do not know the rules concerning these matters)?
ReplyDeleteWishing you much success in this special cause.
ReplyDeleteI'm the stamps co-ordinator for Many Tears and I'd like to thank Deb very much not just for the stamps I received yesterday but for highlighting MT on her blog.
ReplyDeleteThe more support we get, the better and if anyone's in the vicinity of the Centre then it's worth a visit - some people expect it to be a sad place but it's actually very heartwarming - the staff take such care of the dogs (and occasional cats and kittens) and I always walk out of there with a smile on my face and determined to do more for such a wonderful cause :-)
Thanks Helen for visiting and posting a comment, will definitely pop down to Wales sometime and take a look around the centre and take some time to explore the beautiful surrounding area.Cheers
ReplyDeletealways happy to see anyone help out the shelters in anyway they can ~ kudos
ReplyDeleteI shall have some stamps for you when I've sorted through my late father's collection. I have so much to go through!
ReplyDeleteIf you want any mice please email me.
Have a good weekend, Linda
